Throughout March and April, Meals on Wheels programs nationwide recognize the historic achievement of the Older Americans Act (OAA) signed by President Nixon on March 22, 1972. The OAA paved the way for a network of over 5,000 Meals on Wheels programs that collectively provide millions of meals, safety checks, and nutritional education for home-bound seniors across the country.
Here in San Francisco, we were thrilled by the incredible turnout for #MarchForMeals. Hundreds of volunteers and dozens of public officials took time out of their day to meet the seniors we serve by delivering a meal or an emergency prep kit. Take a peek at this 90 second slideshow to get a glimpse of all the action!
On behalf of all 4,000 San Franciscans we serve, thank you for standing up for seniors and Marching for Meals with us!
