We Marched for Meals

This past March (and into April), we joined more than 250 other Meals on Wheels programs around the country to celebrate our 2nd annual #MarchForMeals campaign. March for Meals recognizes the historic achievement of the Older Americans Act, signed and enhanced by President Nixon on March 22, 1972. This Act paved the way for Meals on Wheels as we know it today.

This year, with the help of Mayor Edwin M. Lee, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, Zendesk, Mark Leno, Kara’s Cupcakes, Flora Grubb Gardens, and 56 volunteers from 11 mid-market companies – just to name a few – we delivered meals (and a few smiles) to seniors across San Francisco.

Supervisor Norman Yee even presented Meals on Wheels with a proclamation honoring March 2017 as March for Meals Month. This proclamation commemorates the enhancement of the Older Americans Act and honors Meals on Wheels, the seniors we serve, and the volunteers who care for them.

A huge thank you to all who partner with us – in March and all year long – to ensure no senior in San Francisco is forgotten. Please check out our Flickr album here: https://flic.kr/s/aHskUBXxu3 to see each of them in action!
