The old adage goes, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
Embodying this maxim to a T are Conor and his father, Jay. Standing side by side, they both measure over 6 feet tall, broad shouldered, and they’re quick to light up a room with their smile. But beyond their physical similarities, Conor and Jay personify the spirit that drives the success of Meals On Wheels; a strong commitment to honor the dignity and well-being of seniors throughout the state of California.
For the past 8 years, Jay has logged hundreds of miles delivering meals in Grass Valley, a wooded town nestled in the foothills of the Sierra mountains. When his son Conor moved to San Francisco as a young software engineer, he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Conor recalls, “My dad’s stories about meeting and bringing joy to isolated seniors made me think of Meals on Wheels immediately when I was looking to give back. His tales of playing chess, telling jokes, and singing with his clients made me want to do the same.”
To celebrate Father’s Day, please join us in thanking Jay and Conor for their shared commitment to brighten the lives of seniors from Gold Country to the Golden Gate. For this father and son duo, giving back with Meals on Wheels runs in the family.
